Museum Of Unnatural History (The Electronic Bog)

This is a self contained installation housed in a pre-fabricated storage shed.
At first appearance, the shed stands pathetically out of context in an art gallery or public space. On closer inspection, odour and sounds emitting from the shed provoke the viewer's curiosity to enter the shed. Inside the shed is an entirely synthetic forest; an electronic bog as imagined at twilight: dark, mysterious, and steamy. It is an interactive environment where every step taken by the viewer triggers various devices: bubbling mud, croaking frogs, pine-scent spray, waterfalls, etc. Fireflies randomly fly and pulsate, and other animals and insects surface according to the viewers interaction.
The intent of this work is to implant an electro-biological environment into the gallery, thus reflecting the absurdities of man-made nature.
