Rise And Fall Of An Empire deals with youth and beauty. It explores the tribal decoration and the exterior facade of a youth culture. It shows us the make-up, the hairdos and the fashion adopted in an attempt to assert their individuality and anger at a society they cannot accept passively. Through the arresting use of imagery and music we feel the desperation, angst, and decadence that is inherent in all reactionary youth cultures.
The work centers upon the rise and the demise of the Punk/New Wave scene, exploring the way it has been incorporated into contemporary commercial applications.
