This is a documentary of a sound installation constructed by Gordon Monahan for The Festivals in Edmonton, Alberta, July 1986. The installation is a large aeolian harp constructed with an upright piano and 120 foot long high tension wires. The wires are set into various states of low and high frequency vibrations by the wind and absence of wind. These vibrations are acoustically amplified through contact to the piano soundboard. The piano is thus induced to 'sing' of its own accord. There are no electronics used whatsoever, although the sound produced sounds very electronic to the ear. A usual comment by an observer is 'sounds like UFOs'.
