Elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air)
1987, 101:00 minutes, colour, n/a
Earth: "expresses my impossible yearning as a human for the dignity, longevity and wisdom of trees. Faces of people looking into the camera in slow motion are superimposed on the images of tree trunks, branches and leaves." Water: explores change within sameness, the infinite variety of abstracted water patterns within a minuscule stationary frame. Fire: documents a lonely vigil beside a campfire, an open field, a full moon, the coming of dawn - a video ritual. Air: Just like clouds, whose transient shapes we create in our minds, so the entire heritage of our civilization is merely a figment of our imagination. The tape consists of images of clouds floating over the icons (past and present) of our culture.
