Misaligned Shafts traces the evolution of the mechanical vibrator and its predecessor technologies, in interviews and location images, to analyze sexual ideology within a patriarchal culture.The viewer is informed of the early treatment of hysteria in women by doctors hands to orgasm, water therapy and later the vibrator, from the mid-eighteen hundreds to the early nineteen hundreds. The tape comments on current practices of the vibrator.
Video is acknowledged through formal devices and a non-linear structure.
