Living With Elephants

Susan Harman

1992, 16:37 minutes, colour, English

This tape records conversations which occurred over a three year gap with Penny Chalmers, who talks about being the child / adult of alcoholic parents. The video breaks the conventional documentary format in order to shift the power dynamic between subject, audience and video maker. The result is not only an exploration of a friendship over time but of Penny's growing articulation of herself.
