"I wanted to look at how scars define our personalities. The same way our bodies are socially constructed & constitute a meaningful entity, scars, both inner and outer define us. The inner scars of my grandmother must be verbalized in order to be seen. The outer scars of giving birth must be exhibited. My life as an immigrant living in a western country, my return to my so called homeland is also part of this tape. I was always seen as a different person, there and here. Living in Beirut, in a fragmented and divided city, my own internal fragmentation became more obvious to me".
