A visual study or invention, in which the techniques of video are used to tell a subtle and visually-based story.

Smashing an entry into a downtown condominium, an elusive thief sets about its subtle task. A professional, who knows where real value lies, the thief takes nothing "whole," but steals instead from the surface. It simply removes and changes the "appearance" of its loot. Preciousness is stolen, security is erased, and popular distractions are wryly exposed. The two inhabitants of the apartment, contentedly absorbed in television, are left the unknowing victims of the thief's clever heist.

The silent robbery is interrupted as local authorities noisily break in to gather the details of their crime. Their notepad remains blank as the blinding investigation turns up nothing. What was the crime? Who are the victims? The newspaper reports the story, but the evasive thief remains on the loose.
