Fear of heights and falling: Motion Pictures At English Bay is an examination of a densely populated urban landscape recorded from a 21st floor hotel balcony overlooking Vancouver. A free-scanning, handheld camera is accompanied by a complex, highly charged, constantly evolving soundtrack comprised partially of spoken narrative fragments which function simultaneously as language and music.
Planes, Spiders and Motion Pictures At English Bay comprise a three part "video-music" work by Ottawa-based artist Tom Sherman, and Jean Piche, a composer from Montreal. Sherman and Piche have committed themselves to an ongoing series of collaborative works in the video-music form.
