TAPECODE 2008.03

Salome is based on the opera by Richard Strauss. Salome is a traditional tale of power, lust, incest and betrayal, contemporized and played out as a hyper-narrative tale of desire beyond control.
Salome is a bad girl; King Herod is a morally bankrupt industrialist; and John the Baptist is a raving lunatic. The action is located within the ultimate symbol of ostentatious excess, the limosine, which zooms through the urban landscape as a symbol of wealth and inaccessability. The passengers remain enclosed and impervious to the afflictions of the outside world. All aboard are doomed to play out their roles to the end.

Salome was produced as a co-production with Radio Canada (CBC) for a rock video program.
