Word for Word
Elizabeth MacKenzie and Ruth Cuthand
1995, 09:50 minutes, colour, Cree/French/English
TAPECODE 456.00
Two intertwined narratives translated from English into Cree and French speak of longing and frustration. These narratives are interrupted by visuals which either illustrate or confound the viewer's understanding of the texts. Voice-over in Cree and French are attempted by the artists, who are not fluent speakers.
The tape includes English subtitles that have been distorted through translation.
