On the Tsuu Pina Nation outside Calgary, relatives prepare food for the Mother's Day Round Dance. Teenage Coralee Starlight makes bannock with the help of her cousins, and we meet a four legged mother. At the celebration, Coralee explains the significance of the event. Activities of the Tsartlip Indian Band on Vancouver Island include Theresa Smith as she teaches her niece the art of creating the local Cowachin sweaters, and relates her own learning experience. Bruce Morris works on the construction of a dugout canoe, while his grandfather Ivan oversees a race in ten person canoes between men and women in the community.
