Minqon Minqon: Wosquotm Elsonwagon / Shirley Bear: Reclaiming the Balance of Power

1990, 06:45 minutes

TAPECODE 3039.01

Shirley Bear is a Malecite artist living in New Brunswick. In her paintings, she reinterprets the ancient Indian petroglyphs and the Maliseet way of life before European conquest. As a First Nation's artist, feminist and activist she has brought enormous depth to her work. Her striking images reflect her multiple approach to life, and underline her belief that the balance of power must be restored to create harmony in this patriarchal society.

Part of Five Feminist Minutes co-produced with Studio D/NFB.
