C'est au Club Antonin Artaud - qui accueille des "malades mentaux" - à Bruxelles que la réalisatrice rencontre Victor Cordier, 50 ans. Il commence à dessiner et à peindre auprès d'elle. Au bout de deux ans, face à une amitié qui s'ankylosait, ils décident de faire un film sur lui, sa vie quotidienne et son itinéraire: l'exil, le vide, le trop plein ... La réalisatrice raconte aussi leurs rapports affectifs, parfois conflictuels et l'évolution de leur relation.
