LEFTOVERS

Leftovers is the systematic, progressive perforation of video documentation of abandoned buildings in Syracuse, New York, by the wasted, expended images and sounds of recorded television news and advertising. This video composition somewhat ironically preserves these abandoned buildings and signals (the buildings have since been torn down and the television news is no longer news and the advertising is no longer running). This video is an experience of excess and awaits. It is anxious, manic and toxic in tone. The soundtrack is Sherman's TVSCANNER time piece, an audio track comprised of television soundtracks captured and compressed with time - lapse techniques.
