Fz-978 APOLLO 2000 is a continuation/extrapolation of the film making methodology Van LaPointe first used in fz-976. Shot entirely on super-8 film, LaPointe has chosen to use dream-like juxtaposition of black/images as a launching pad for the waking-dream narrative trajectory of the viewer. On LaPointe’s own narrative trajectory, he states "fz-978 is for me a lament of the future promised and not delivered in the heyday of the Apollo space program. Flying cars, talking computers, robot servants…what has happened to this version of the future? At least we have 500 channels of tv..."
