"Incidental Park Zones and You" is a humorous video with a curiously subversive message; "Be a Part, Be a Park."
Dead-pan in its friendly approach, it uses the conventions of the feel-good educational genre to encourage viewers to participate in spontaneous acts of urban theatre, in this case standing in one place and staring at the sky or sidewalk until people become curious and interact with you. The purpose of these interactions is to re-create the sociable, civic space of a park in urban settings where parks aren't. And as the video demonstrates, this technique works. See as strangers come together to be parks!Soothing music accompanies gentle narration, with step-by-step scenes that illustrate and explain how each of us can be a park. Shot in the heart of downtown Toronto, the video shows delighted passersby participating in their own Incidental Park Zones.
