Muerte en Santa Maria de Iquique (Death in Santa Maria de Iquique)
1986, 20:00 minutes, colour, Spanish/English
TAPECODE 9477
Based on a historical event, the tape recalls the tragic end of the people of Santa Maria de Iquique, a copper-mining village in Northern Chile. The government, afraid a recent strike in the village would create a movement in other villages, sent the army in with orders to shoot and kill all the people. Using images from the past and a journey through the present-day ghost town, the tragic event is recreated.
