Lamps is a short video art piece incorporating the concepts of dance, theatre, and video to create an emotionally charged performance. Inspired by Gertrude Steins' exploration of objects, Lamps explores not only the object itself - but also the female person in relationship to that object. Lamps is a movement piece created by two individual women, and from their separate relationships to a stand up lamp. The two women dance and move side by side in their own separate worlds, and the overall effect is a strange and beautiful exploration of women and their sexuality, power, and poetry. The camera movement, music, and editing all contribute to a unique and poetic piece.
