Pretension Spaz: The Farley Theory

Malcolm Rogge

2004, 04:30 minutes, Colour

TAPECODE 811.01

Scintillating portraits of the artists in hot pink, baby blue, yellow, blood red, and black. This short film documents one component of “The Farley Theory,” a multi-media collaboration by Montréal painters Colin Burrow, Maclean and Miss Hatt in 2001. With candy-coloured super 8 film and a hand held camera, Rogge captures the spirit of their free-form collaboration.

Just what exactly did the self-taught artist Colin Burrow mean when he painted the words “Pretension Spaz” at the top of the mural?
