Times Square

Muriel Magenta

2002, 04:00 minutes, colour, music, no dialogue

The dynamic of this 3D animation is driven by the universal attraction to Times Square. Viewers experience the reality, myth, and pulse of this urban icon. Times Square mirrors the City, absorbing and belting out a multitude of vibes in every sector of human activity. Magenta takes the essence of Broadway to the max. Fleeting elements of billboards, pulsating neon, theatre lights, yellow cabs, and street life play off one another. To emphasize the architectural drama, much of the action takes place above eye level as the animation pans up from the street to building tops.

A digital soundtrack was developed by fusing bytes of traffic, people's voices, and ambient street sounds recorded on location.
Times Square has been influenced by personal memory and popular culture.
