“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go”.--T.S. Eliot
excuses, excuses is a ‘video-performance’. Originally conceived and exhibited as a site-specific video installation, it documents Emelie Chhangur and Darren O’Donnell having sex in Zsa Zsa gallery, Toronto at 2 pm, 30 March 2004.
The resulting footage, slowed down and edited to DVD (seen here), was displayed on a large, flat screen monitor placed in the gallery’s store-front window; the video could be seen f from the street as it played on continuous loop, 24 hours a day, seven days a week from 1–15 April, 2004. The gallery remained ‘closed’ for the duration of the exhibition and was left empty save for a single chair (seen in the video), which was placed in the middle of the gallery.
