Windhorse is a personal and visual interpretation of a Tibetan meditation practice with the same name. Water brushstrokes saturate a special type of paper, and then evaporate. The actions of the brushstrokes are animated, reversed, and create a unique and mysterious atmosphere of contemplation and clarity. The images appear and disappear like thoughts, and the soundtrack, composed by Debbie Danbrook (www.healingmusic.com), symbolizes a transmission from one person to another.
Windhorse was commissioned during Errance, an animation workshop for Franco-Ontarian filmmakers and produced by Les Nomades (www.lesnomades.org) in partnership with the National Film Board of Canada and in collaboration with the Toronto Animated Image Society (TAIS) and Bureau des regroupements des artistes visuels du sud de l'Ontario (BRAVO-SUD).
