In this computer-animated work, An Abridgement of Melanie Klein’s “Narrative of a Child Analysis,” text fragments from psychoanalyst Melanie Klein’s seminal 1961 book Narrative of a Child Analysis float across the screen. Klein’s book was based on detailed notes taken during 1941, during which Klein had 93 sessions with a 10-year-old boy. In addition to her notes, the book contains the boy’s drawings and her interpretations of them. Colour illustrations inspired by the boy’s drawings, drawn by Emily Vey Duke, follow the text fragments. The text fragments in this work are sourced from sixteen of the 93 sessions.
