ONE-Thousand Palestinian Political Prisoners

TAPECODE 1021.03

This video includes portraits of a thousand Palestinian prisoners, approximately 10% of the total number of prisoners in the Israeli occupation prisons and detention camps. Photographed over a period of six years, most of the images were found on posters in the Palestinian streets. This work was created as a response to the prisoners’ swap that took place in 2012, when one Israeli prisoner was exchanged for one thousand Palestinian political prisoners. The work raises the question of how human lives under colonialism are valued.

ONE-Thousand Palestinian Political Prisoners
is available as a single channel video, single channel installation, or as expanded two-channel installation with the video BIL’IN.
