Lozano’s twin screen portrait of a political activist in exile in Canada, has the unnamed individual tell the story of the assassination attempt that forced him to go into hiding and then to flee his home. The details of the traumatic event are told with a matter of fact precision, but names places and dates have been removed to protect the subject. The combination of precision and abstraction, lead us to reflect on the fact that the subject’s chilling story is indeed all too common, while the fact that he survived is not.
