Tyler’s seminal piece, “Great Consumer Death warriors Will Rule Your Face” is a performance-based public intervention that features a robot dancing inside of Wal-Mart. The video also features footage of a graveyard and of suburban homes in Regina, Saskatchewan, representing the landscape of the developing suburbs of the city in the early-mid 2000’s. The artist questions his placement within the bland, suburban consumerist culture that has expanded rapidly since that time. Although the tone of the piece is humorous, the subject and reality of it is dark. These two qualities are heightened dramatically through an original instrumental song composed by the artist featured in the video.
