hope/alone manipulates YouTube-sourced footage of a lone planet circling a Red Giant star as the hook of a popular song, “you better hope you’re not alone,” is chanted out into the empty outer space-scape. The work begins as seemingly joyous, but the continual reiteration of the lyrics become desperate, and even threatening as the eerie chorus continues into the darkness.
