Drinking Tea / Tee trinken

Corinna Schnitts video-narrations tend to start off with everyday scenes which slowly turn towards absurdity. In Tee trinken / Drinking tea a few older people are staged in a giant living room where they are sitting mute and motionless. They watch on different screens the same video over and over again which shows a young girl in a flower field that elegantly drinks tea and smiles. The concerns here are the relation of age and youth, nature and culture and, after all, of reality and the media.

Corinna Schnitt’s filmic cabinet plays present our daily environment which we tend to not recognize anymore, because we lost the ability to see it. With her works the artist opens our eyes and we recognize a surrounding which we could render more human if we realise how it really is.
