Defense de Fumer is a short film commissioned in 2014 by the Festival de Nouveau Cinema in Montreal. Set to a classical soundtrack, the film begins by following a mechanic to his smoke break at work in a garage. Then he is inexplicably surrounded by a crew of leather daddies who all start smoking cigars too, until there is a mantle of thick smoke that changes from grey to red, the score shifting to a pulsing club beat, the auto shop having become a leather club.
