Body Wrap emerged through my desire to live up to my hypervisibility. As a queer, visibly disabled, person of colour, the choice to be invisible was never an option. Being invisible was always an unknowable elsewhere. And in performance art, which has a history of using the body as an art-tool, my body always seemed to include an unintentional underlay of provocation.

As someone with lived experience, but without any connection to disability community at the time, concepts of disability arts, access as love and disability justice were still foreign to me. Stumbling upon the TED Talk Stella Young which went viral in 2016, which discussed the social model of disability was a liberatory experience. In this piece, the superimposed subtitles, detail a love letter in response to Young, who’s talk was the impetus for my second coming-out: into a political identity of disability and a life-long study into the deeply embedded structural ableism of the world around me.
