Previous studies in politics and sociology at McGill University, Montreal and the University of Essex, England (M.F.A. Latin American Studies) established Robert Milthorp's critical perspectives and methods. This in addition to work experience as a child care councillor and various jobs involving public relations, has directed his art towards social issues and particularly the place of the individual in society.
