This is a video which documents one iteration of Leena Raudvee’s performance of Precarious Lines: Instructions for Interacting with a Chair. Raudvee’s voice reads her score for a disabled body as she struggles to sit down and get up again from a chair.

She follows the instructions. Slowly, she lowers herself down to the seat of the chair, pauses, and then, with great effort, she pushes down hard with both arms and rises up to standing.
Cautiously, she begins to walk away from the chair, finding balance with arms, flailing.
She walks out of the picture frame then reappears, pushing her walker across the space behind the chair. We hear the creaking of wheels and the sound of her footsteps passing by.
