Phyllis Waugh

1984, 12:00 minutes, colour, English

"The tape presents narratives of my dreams and images of my drawings, performance, and childhood, all of which inter-relate on many levels and evoke a sense of reverie and contemplation, spiked with anger. The dream texts are from my diaries and the whole tape evolved by an episodic, diaristic process.
Themes touched upon in both the visuals and narration include: home, parents, marriage, escape, lesbian sexuality, childhood, visionary experience, anger, authority, death, and apocalypse. Some poetic images are: dresses, water, heights, scissors and knife."
