How Long Have You Known Barbara? involves thirteen people playing themselves or taking a role within a profession not unlike their own. All tape was shot with 8mm video with many in-camera edits. There was no written script. On-set instructions to participants were often given just minutes before the camera was turned on. Plot: A man who works for an "issues" related magazine comes to Herring Cove, N.S. to look at photographs by a female photographer for possible publication.
