In 1976, a week-long festival was organized by a group of Montreal citizens to raise funds in support of the Cree who stood to lose their land under the James Bay hydro-electric project. This film gravitates between the spectacular performances of the Indian and Inuit peoples and the meeting halls of Mistassini where they talk of their past to defend their future. This film is political in nature, rather than a showcase of Native talent, but the point is well made.
