Ars Longa, is the second half of a video diptych.

Clasping hands and flashes of outdoor scenes combine to create a sense of memories or passing thoughts. The simplistic text revolves around the regret of not being able to say goodbye. Rapidly moving landscape imagery (the passing of time, that contrasts with the slow hand-held camera pace of the landscape imagery in
Vita Brevis) culminate in the I Ching symbol for Harmony also seen in Vita Brevis."

The literal translation of this latin expression is that life is short, art is eternal: but the essence is that we are soon forgotten, our lives literally lost from history and collective memory, unless we contribute in some concrete way. When I was concentrating on painting years ago, I often worked on diptychs, and wanted to do this as video. Ars Longa and Vita Brevis are two videos created to work both separately and in concert with each other through repetition of motifs and footage and a similar lighting and mood.
