Variations on a polypropylene wrapper consists of two intertwined images of the artists in an apartment setting, endlessly shaking out a piece of clear polypropylene. This video is based on David Rimmer’s 1970 Avant-garde cinema classic, Variations of a Cellophane Wrapper. The artists have ‘updated’ the technology of the optical printing process, and altered the subject matter to produce a response not only to Rimmer’s piece specifically, but to Modernism, mediation and the memory of a different era of production.
