This tape has nothing to do with Rachel or Ross. Instead, what we see are two "ghosts," which continue in a similar aesthetic vein as Middleton's "Midnight Studio Rambles" series. With "FRIENDS" we see two lone sculptures on wheels, pathetic and free standing, made by Middleton in her studio, using an array of studio props for the 'set' these friends perpetually enact their relationship upon. These friends engage in discussion through varying bass lines and pick-up music. Our "FRIENDS" come to life thanks to a hidden animator who crouches behind them, helping them to speak when necessary.
