P is a study in redundancy. One might say it is also a study in incontinence. Starting January 18 2005 everytime I went to urinate I said ‘Pee’ at the same time into a tape recorder. I did this until I reached one thousand (149 days later, on June 15 2005).
The playback sequence of the Ps is determined by the original date and time of urination. This was made possible by using a Max/MSP patch programmed by Mériol Lehmann at Avatar. In other words, any playback length can be set, and the spacing of the playback of the 1000 Ps will follow the original date and time. There are two versions of this piece, one lasts 60 seconds and the other 60 minutes.
