Three-year-old Aluna is allowed to go out after a long period of confinement because COVID discovers that the world has changed, the other kids can not get close, and all her play spaces are closed with yellow tape. I followed her with a go pro camera or a cell phone recording her while exploring two parks nearby. She becomes a friend and caregiver of the plants, flowers, and insects. The work is a testimony of child solitude, forced to wear a mask, to play alone, to discover a world on her terms. Aluna’s bringing forth of worlds, carving out meanings within the ailing planet that she and all children have inherited from us.
