Jubal Brown

1999, 10:00 minutes, colour

TAPECODE 591.08

Referencing early video art, this piece is a solo performance by the artist in a room with a camera performing a home operation to remove unwanted fat. The work considers: the body vs image, male feminism vs female patriarchy, personal body control vs the social stigma of body image, and individual body ownership vs the institution of the medical profession.
