Closer

TAPECODE 971.01

This performance for the camera depicts the artist’s tongue viscerally licking a layer of chocolate that covers the camera lens, separating her from the viewer. As her tongue dismantles this symbolic chocolate barrier, she intimately whispers words that represent her desire to get closer to the viewer such as come closer to me, I just want to get through to you. This piece represents the artist’s desire for more closeness and connection through the use of a sexually charge and grotesque aesthetic.
