The Perils Of Pedagogy attempts to examine the limited cultural role models available to the young gay man, both in the dominant culture and in the gay ghetto. It especially stresses the hegemonic role of the dominant culture in shaping the expectations and assumptions of the supposedly alternative "gay" ghetto. The tape is a video music version of To Sir With Love slowed down to sound like Perry Como. The actor and director's personal lives keep interrupting the process, and the dominant culture, in the form of questions, intervenes.
